Grandview Elementary Hosts Guest Readers as Part of the Keystone Classroom Initiative
Grandview Elementary School K-4 classrooms hosted guest readers as part of the recently launched Keystone Classroom Initiative. Representatives from the state government, state police, and local leaders from Franklin County read to students and gave them a bag of goodies. Students especially enjoyed meeting mascots (Big Red and Archie) from PA universities!
Grandview Elementary was selected as the first Franklin County elementary school to participate in the Keystone Classroom Initiative. The Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial Act of 2018 established the America250PA campaign to coordinate and promote efforts to celebrate Pennsylvania’s key role in the birth of our nation. Each year through 2026, the campaign's Keystone Classroom Initiative will provide America-themed coloring books and crayons — plus a special presentation by an age-appropriate historical reenactor, storyteller, mascot, or local celebrity — to several K-4 elementary schools around the commonwealth.
The book that was read to each class focused on Pennsylvania’s contribution to the formation of the United States. The book that was read to students will be placed in the Grandview school library for students and staff to continue to enjoy for the years to come.
