CASD Foundation Receives Franklin County IMPACT! Grant for CAMS South

The Chambersburg Area School District Foundation recently received a $40,000 grant through the Franklin County IMPACT! Grant Program.

With this funding, the Foundation will fund a Makerspace at Chambersburg Area Middle School South which will be spearheaded by project leads Angelia Holmes, librarian, and Drue Hoffman, 8th grade science teacher.

Funding through Franklin County’s IMPACT! Grant Program was available to nonprofit organizations, municipalities and municipal authorities located within Franklin County to support local recovery efforts in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Franklin County Commissioners distributed grants for 127 projects across Franklin County.

The IMPACT! Grant Program was made possible through the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

“The Makerspace implementation at CAMS South will provide invaluable learning opportunities to bolster academic development, creating opportunities for students to learn through creative problem-solving, collaboration, and communication, “ Foundation executive director Angela Lynch said. “The CASD Foundation and the Chambersburg School District are grateful to the Franklin County Commissioners for this grant and look forward to our students benefitting from the hands-on learning afforded through Makerspace education.”
