Important Notice Regarding District Emails

Dear CASD Families,

In the past few weeks, districts across Pennsylvania have experienced an increase in fraudulent emails claiming to be from public school employees. A common theme includes parents/guardians being contacted by what appears to be a district employee via email asking for information on either themselves or their child.

Social engineering is the art of manipulating, influencing, or deceiving you into taking some action that isn’t in your own best interest by coaxing you into divulging sensitive information. Below is an example of common red flags that will help you identify a fraudulent email.

Additionally, know that District employees will never ask for sensitive information about you or your child via email communication. If you are unsure if an email is legitimate, please contact your child’s school office for more information.
