Inclement Weather Instructional Options

Dear CASD Families,

With winter weather on the horizon, the district would like to share the various options for emergencies affecting school in-person instruction. Please take careful notice of the differences between these days.

 Flexible Instructional Day (FID)

  • Students do not attend live virtual teaching sessions generally.
  • Students will receive communication about the the day through Google Classroom. This communication will describe how to access instructional material, how to log attendance and how to request assistance for the day.
  • Assignments and activities will be made available to students by 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the Flexible Instructional Day.
  • Students will be considered present for the Flexible Instructional Day upon verification of login status in the LMS or Google Classroom.
  • Students will have five school days to complete the Flexible Instructional Day activities to receive full credit for grading purposes only.

 Emergency Instructional Day

  • All students will receive communication about the day through through Google Classroom.
  • Students will attend live virtual teaching sessions and are expected to log into Google Meet live lessons from home using their Chromebook.
  • Google Meet live lessons will follow the same schedule as in-person instruction.
  • Attendance will be verified by attendance in live virtual lessons.

Emergency Closure

  • There will be no school online or in-person.
  • Make up days will be announced.

Inclement Weather Instructional Options

During an inclement weather event, the district will issue communications to parent/guardian directly via email and phone calls and posted on the CASD website, app, social media channels, and via local media outlets.

Please ensure your contact information is correct within the Sapphire Community Web Portal. To change contact information, please call your child(ren)’s school office.
