End of Year Parent/Guardian Letter
Dear CASD Families,
Today the 2020-2021 school year comes to a close. As I reflect on what was arguably the most unusual and challenging school year in recent memory, I’m astounded by the resilience of our CASD teachers, administrators, and students. Whether it was navigating changing schedules, virtual and hybrid in-person learning, mask mandates, or new technology, our students and staff rose to every occasion.
I had the privilege of speaking at the CMS graduation ceremony last evening and will speak at the CASHS graduation tomorrow (weather permitting). As one of our folks said, “It is a time of healing and celebration.” There was much lost in this past year, and indeed there is hard work to be done going forward. Yet, when I see the optimism and genius of our graduating seniors, I’m extremely hopeful for the future of our community and nation. I encourage you to watch the CMS graduation from last night or the live stream of the CASHS graduation at the link below.

I want to thank you, parents and community members, for your patience, suggestions, feedback, and even your criticism. Though we haven’t always agreed on policy or certain decisions, it is clear that we all passionately desire the same goal: to provide the best possible education for Chambersburg area children. To that end, we will continue to do everything within our power to make our district vision a reality:
Vision: That every child achieves in school and attains the skills needed to achieve success in the future in a highly collaborative culture of honesty, trustworthiness and passion for our mission of bettering the lives of children…
It is an honor to serve you and our students. Have a great summer break!
Sincerely,
Dr. Dion Betts
