CASHS Senior Overcomes Obstacles in Academic Career and Becomes Model Employee
CASHS senior Haley Simmers (pictured above, center) has overcome many obstacles during her academic career and most recently has become a model employee for a local manufacturing company.
Two years ago, Haley’s father tragically passed away and just recently the individuals involved were brought to justice. Throughout this time, Haley worked through the barriers to her learning and recouped several academic credits to allow time in her senior schedule for a job.
Understanding Haley’s future workforce desires, Haley’s counselors and administrators provided an opportunity for Haley to utilize the school-to-work apprenticeship program with JLG. Haley readily accepted this plan and began working for JLG during the summer between her junior and senior year of school.
Since then, Haley has continued her employment with the JLG apprenticeship program. She starts her day with JLG at 6 am and ends at noon. Haley then travels to CASHS to complete her last 3 courses towards her high school diploma. Haley’s goal is to become a full-time employee of JLG prior to graduating from CASHS in May.
