Community Member Don Hershey Named November Kindness Challenge Winner

At the November 19th regular board meeting, Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) Superintendent Dr. Dion Betts announced Don Hershey, manager of the Veterans Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #1599, as the winner of the CASD November Kindness Challenge. Hershey was presented with a superintendent's commendation and pin.

The November Kindness Challenge asked CASD staff to nominate a community member who demonstrates kindness by supporting a school, classroom or students. Hershey received an overwhelming majority of nominations for his support of various District initiatives, clubs, field trips, events, and more.

The superintendent's commendation reads:
"This commendation is presented to an individual who espouses kindness, compassion, and selfless service to the school district and its staff and students. Mr. Don Hershey exemplifies our vision that every child achieves in school and attains the skills needed to be successful in the future through a highly collaborative culture of honesty, trustworthiness, and passion for our mission of bettering the lives of children."
