On Thursday, October 3rd, Pennsylvania State Senator Doug Mastriano (R-33) presented Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) employee Teresa Kegg with a Senate certificate recognizing her outstanding service as custodian at Fayetteville Elementary School. Kegg was recently selected as a “kindness challenge” winner, in which CASD Superintendent Dr. Dion Betts asked District employees to submit stories of colleagues who committed kind acts, or otherwise carried out their normal duties with kindness. After receiving over 150 submissions, Kegg was chosen as the winner.

“Teresa was nominated not just for her kindness but also for her work ethic, which is amazing,” said Superintendent Betts. “I was really excited because we have an unsung hero here who daily works hard on behalf of the staff and children. Often times folks go unrecognized and we want to change that.”

Kegg was presented with the Senate certificate at the monthly meeting for Fayetteville Elementary School staff.

“It’s an important task you all have here,” remarked Sen. Mastriano to the CASD staff. “Thank you for fighting the good fight and for shaping this next generation. We are going through many struggles in our nation and state, and it’s important that you don’t give up. We need each one of you.”

The certificate reads:
Whereas, the Senate of Pennsylvania takes great pride in recognizing and honoring Teresa Kegg upon receiving the Kindness Challenge Award; and whereas, Teresa Kegg has proven to be an outstanding citizen who exemplifies the finest virtues of American life; and now, therefore, Senator Doug Mastriano heartily congratulates Teresa Kegg on this momentous occasion and wishes a future replete with good health, happiness and personal fulfillment.
