District Student Excels at Both Online Learning and Sports
Grace Johns, 10th grade, is enrolled in CASD Customized Cyber Learning. Grace researched C3 Learning on the district website and approached her dad about the possibility of enrolling. Grace’s dad was on board with online learning and convinced Grace’s mom to give her the opportunity to enroll.
Grace scheduled 7 credits for her sophomore year and has proven herself to be an outstanding cyber-learner. Online learning has provided Grace the flexibility to complete all of her school work at home and free up her day to do other things of interest to her. One of Grace’s hobbies is playing softball which she has participated in since she was 7 years old.
Grace is a member of the CASHS JV Softball team. According to her coach, Pat Parson, “Grace is a quiet, very laid back young lady. She has played softball for me at Chambersburg for 2 seasons. Grace plays first base and she catches. Grace may be very quiet and reserved but she is a competitor on the softball field. She fills in wherever we need her to in the line up as a DP or courtesy runner for a game or a bull pen catcher warming up the pitchers. She is a utility player that is learning different positions on the field.”
C3 Learning afforded Grace the ability to experience a cyber learning environment as well as participate on an athletic team with the district. With both experiences, it is clear that whatever Grace sets her mind to she will be successful.
