    The Chambersburg Area School District has made the following changes for students being picked up during the school day by individuals who are not their parent/guardian OR are not on the approved pick up list for that child. These changes are effective immediately in all CASD schools.

    The three day event featured Latin, Spanish and German students presenting their fellow language learners with key structural, vocabulary-based and cultural facets unique to their respective language.

  • Benjamin Chambers ESL Class Publishes Book to Showcase English Learning

    At Benjamin Chambers Elementary School, the English as a second language (ESL) newcomer class recently published a class book entitled “Who We Are.” The book was created to highlight each student’s native country and to display their English language development growth over the course of the school year.

  • End of the Year Schedule Changes

    Friday, May 24th, will be a full school day, rather than a two-hour early dismissal. Also, for the last week of school, students will be dismissed two hours early on Tuesday, May 28th, Wednesday, May 29th, and Thursday, May 30th.

  • Student Thrives in CASD Cyber Learning Program

    Connor Daley is a 4th grader enrolled in the Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) Customized Cyber Learning program, known as C3 Learning. Daley quickly adjusted to cyber learning and along with the help of his C3 instructor, Mrs. Leeper, became engaged in his courses of ELA, Math, Science, History and Geography and Spelling.

  • CASD Gifted Department Hosts 4th Annual Battle of the Brains

    This day is a competitive challenge event for teams of 3-4. The Shippensburg Area School District gifted students also participated in the event. Thirty teams rotated through nine different stations, each with a unique challenge to solve.

  • CASHS Navy JROTC Cadet Accepted to Merchant Marine Academy

    Chambersburg Area Senior High School (CASHS) Senior and Navy Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corp (JROTC) Cadet Spencer Rajtik has accepted appointment to the Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point, New York.

  • CASD Athlete Selected to Attend NFHS National Student Leadership Summit

    The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, Inc. (PIAA) recently announced that Chambersburg Area Senior High School (CASHS) 10th grader Madison Flythe was selected to attend the 2019 National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) National Student Leadership Summit. The summit is scheduled for July 22nd through July 24th in Indianapolis, Indiana.

  • Stevens Elementary School Holds Book Giveaway for Students

    On Wednesday, April 3rd, Stevens Elementary School students received around 15 free books through a Title 1 School Intervention Grant. The large collection of books was displayed in the cafeteria, where students came and selected titles of interest during lunch.

  • Students Give Blood to Save Lives

    On Friday, March 29, the gifted students program at Chambersburg Area Senior High School (CASHS), hosted a blood drive open to District students and staff. The drive registered 47 donors and collected 28 pints of blood that will save the lives of 84 local patients.

  • Chambersburg Area Senior High School Potential Threat

    At approximately 10:30 PM, Wednesday, March 20th, District staff received an anonymous tip from the Safe2Say reporting program regarding a threat of violence at the Chambersburg Area Senior High School (CASHS). After initial investigation, District staff deemed the threat to be potentially credible and the determination was made to close CASHS. Out of an abundance of caution, the Career Magnet School (CMS) was also closed for the day. At no time were any students or staff in immediate harm.

  • Last Day of School and Graduation Dates

    Due to the recent snow cancellations, the last student day for the 2018-2019 school year will be May 30, 2019. This will require an adjustment to the graduation dates.

  • Kindergarten Registration Information 2019-2020

    Children who will be five (5) years of age prior to September 1, 2019 may be registered for kindergarten. Children now attending kindergarten in the Chambersburg Area School District will automatically be registered for first grade.

  • CASD Board Votes to Approve Dr. Dion E. Betts as Next Superintendent

    The Board voted to approve the appointment of Dr. Dion E. Betts as the next Superintendent of the Chambersburg Area School District for a term to commence July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2024.

  • CASD Substitute Aide Charged and Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography

    Chambersburg Area School District was informed by the Chambersburg State Police that a District substitute aide was arrested late January 31, 2019 for possession of child pornography. The substitute aide is no longer employed by either the District or the substitute service provider.

  • CASHS Fire Alarm Triggered

    Upon further inspection, the fire alarm was found to contain a faulty sensor. By 1:25 PM, the building was deemed safe and all students were returned to their classes. At no time were any students or staff in any danger.

  • District to Receive $25,000 Grant for Security Upgrades

    The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) announced that Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) qualified to receive a $25,000 grant for security upgrades. CASD is one of 496 districts in the commonwealth that will receive grants that total $12.4 million.

    All students and staff were quickly evacuated and emergency responders were dispatched to the school. No students, staff, or first responders were injured due to the smoke. As a safety precaution, all CASHS students were sent home for the day.

    The District is offering a Concern Hotline for parents/guardians at (717) 261-5662. Messages can be left 24 hour a day, seven days a week, and will be returned Monday-Friday during normal business hours by a member of the CASD administration. The hotline is NOT for emergency purposes. If you suspect an immediate threat or otherwise have an emergency, please dial 911.

    Both Chambersburg Area Middle Schools North and South will host open houses on Monday, August 13th from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. These events will be self-guided tours throughout the buildings. In addition, the follow dates have been set for 6th grade and new student orientations.
