Title I is a 100% federally funded supplemental education program that provides financial assistance to Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) and many other local educational agencies to improve educational opportunities for educationally deprived children. CASD's Title I programs are designed to help children meet the state content and performance standards in reading and mathematics.

How does CASD utilize this grant? The Title I program funds several reading specialists, math coaches and aides. The funds are also used for parental involvement, a summer school program as well as numerous books and other resources designed to offer supplemental reading and math instruction.
Program Description: Title I is a federally funded program designed to aid students in achieving academic success. A school qualifies for Title I services if its number of students qualifying for free or reduced meals meets or exceeds the district average. For the 2018-2019 school year, Ben Chambers, Buchanan, Fayetteville, Hamilton Heights and Stevens elementary schools are school-wide Title I buildings. Grandview, Marion and New Franklin elementary are targeted-assisted Title I buildings.
