Hello and welcome to Andrew Buchanan Elementary School located in the Chambersburg Area School District.  My name is Dr. Pollock, and I am the principal of both Andrew Buchanan Elementary School and Marion Elementary School.  I would like to give you a Bulldog welcome to our school family!

Andrew Buchanan is one of 13 elementary schools in the Chambersburg Area School District. We are a two-deep elementary building located in the Borough of Chambersburg. We are mainly a walking school in which our students live within walking distance from our campus.  Kindergarten students are bused as well as a few locations that do not provide safe walking travel to and from school. Our students enter the front of the building located on 7^th St. Students only are permitted on the porch area and doors open for breakfast at 8:40 am.  Students not having breakfast, enter the building at 8:45. Please note that there is no adult supervision prior to 8:40. The 7^th St doors close at our 9:00 bell.  Dismissal is at approximately 3:30.

It is imperative that all families use the cross walks at the opposite ends of 7^th St. to cross to and from the school grounds. Crossing Guards are provided for the safety of our students.

Families dropping off students after the 9:00 start time or picking up students prior to our 3:30 dismissal should come to the entrance off of S 8th St by the parking lot. Please ring the bell outside and someone will be with you as soon as they can. Families are required to sign their student(s) in and out of school when arriving after 9:00 and/or leaving before 3:30. A note also is required.  Only those listed on a student’s emergency contact may pick a student up during school hours. ID must be shown.

Attendance is of the utmost importance for your student(s) to grow during their school age career.  Please make sure to know and understand the District Attendance Policy and regulations.  All absences, tardies and early dismissals must be documents with parent/guardian written communication and must be deemed “excusable” under the State guidelines.
