Hi, my name is Amanda Ryan (originally Pursel) and I am going to be your child's Kindergarten teacher this year!! The sky is the limit here in K-1, and I am looking forward to learning and growing with your child!!
I moved to Chambersburg in August 2019 after attending Shippensburg University and receiving my Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education. I recently finished my Master's program this past spring. This will be my sixth year with the Chambersburg Area School District. Before moving to Chambersburg, I grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with my parents and two younger sisters. I love to be active and grew up playing many sports, including swimming, soccer, and volleyball. I have a Shepherd Mix named Midas who is 4 years old and a huge ball of energy! He enjoys taking long walks and playing outside in our fenced backyard!
I have a passion for working with children and I cannot wait for all the learning we are going to do this school year in Kindergarten! Here are just a few of the things you can look forward to your child learning over the course of this year...how to read and write, counting to 100, adding and subtracting, and a variety of science/social studies concepts. Most importantly, our classroom is like a family and there is a huge focus all year on social and emotional skills. I want my students to learn how to express their feelings, set goals for themselves and share with one another in a group setting.
