2026-2027 Student Handbook

As we prepare for the new school year, we want to highlight important changes driven by new state legislation (Act 47) and to ensure academic integrity in all coursework:

  • Weekly Wellness Check-ins: To comply with state law, all virtual students must now participate in a brief weekly Google Meet with a CVA teacher. To keep things flexible for your schedule, we will offer multiple time slots throughout the week, including potential evening hours. Please note that missing a weekly check-in will result in a ½ day illegal absence.

  • Residency Verification: Updated Proof of Residency is now required for all CVA students at the time of enrollment.

  • Use of District Devices:  All CVA students or students taking CVA classes must use their CASD-issued device for all coursework.  Any work completed on personal devices will not be accepted.

Please note: Students in CVA must be prepared to work with multiple digital learning platforms.  If students are not able to work with multiple platforms, CVA is probably not the right choice.  Most core courses are delivered through a combination of Edgenuity coursework and Google Classroom activities.  Most electives / related arts courses are delivered through eDynamic Learning courses.

The special education department must approve CVA enrollments for all students with IEPs.  If students receive related services, such as speech, OT, and/or PT, they are required to continue these services in-person at their home buildings.
