• Message from the Principal

  • Dear Students & Parents/Guardians,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you and your family to Grandview and Lurgan Elementary Schools. As Regional Principal, I look forward to getting to work with all the students and their families and having another exciting year!!

Remember regular school attendance, in addition to being mandated by state law, is very important to your child’s education. Learning takes place on a daily basis. When absent, your child will miss many learning experiences that cannot be duplicated when the student is absent from class. We strongly encourage parents to schedule appointments around school hours. Realizing this is not always possible, please email or fax a note to school letting our secretary and your child's teacher know they'll be missing some of the virtual instruction time being offered that day.

I would like to remind everyone of the importance of establishing routines to help your child be as successful as possible in the upcoming year. Research has proven that encouraging your child to read for just fifteen minutes a day significantly increases their vocabulary and overall academic achievement. Students that read for thirty minutes daily show even more growth!! Please do your part to encourage your child to read independently each day, or take the time to read with your child. It is also important that students establish a regular time and place at home for completing school work.

I hope you remember to bring your positive attitude and your desire to do your very best!! If you have any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming school year, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office!

    Educationally yours,

Mr. Paul G. Swope, Grandview & Lurgan Regional Principal

    (Together Everyone Achieves More)

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to let everyone know how excited we are about this school year and all the educational opportunities Grandview and Lurgan have to offer! Working together, teachers, administrators, and parents, will ensure that all learners achieve their highest potential.

Parent involvement is key to student success!! We encourage all parents to become actively involved in your child's learning process. Open communication with your child's teacher is extremely important. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher. By working together, we can promote an enthusiasm for learning and provide a positive and nurturing environment for your child. Also, please take advantage of the many PTA activities that are offered throughout the school year. Our PTAs are a very active force in our schools and provide many opportunities for families to come together and be a part of the school community.
