• My name is Kelly Emery and this is my 22nd year of teaching!  I have taught learning support in Ohio, Virginia, and for Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 in Pennsylvania.  In 2007, my husband and I moved to Hershey, PA to work at Milton Hershey School as Houseparents.  That was a great experience; however, due to the birth of our twins, we needed to leave that position.

My family lived in the Chambersburg area for three years before moving to Greencastle nine years ago.  We love living in the area and getting to know all the wonderful people!

I have been married to my husband, Brian, for 25 years.  He is the Pastor at Salem Ridge Community Church in Greencastle.  We enjoy our 3 children.  Our oldest son, Philip, is 17 and is a senior this year.  We also have 14 year-old twins, Nathanael and Lena.  They are in ninth grade this year.  Needless to say, we don't have much spare time at our house!  We also have a cat named "Squid"!  She has definitely added more energy to our home!  When I do have a minute to myself, I enjoy reading, baking, and taking walks (when its not too hot!).  We also enjoy being active in our church and doing things to serve others!

Ever since I was in second grade, I felt called to teach.  I believe that to teach is to truly touch the future.  That may sound cliche but I do see each of my students as critical pieces of a successful future for our country.  As a special education teacher, I have a special love for students who are struggling in some area of learning.  It is my job to try to find new ways to teach difficult concepts.  We can all learn, the trick is to find HOW each of us learns best.  It is most rewarding when a student has an "ah-ha" moment because he/she was taught in a new way that worked for him/her!  I believe that if a student feels safe, valued, and supported, he/she will work to his/her highest potential and will be motivated to learn!
