•  Important News for Second Grade

  • Dear Second Grade Students and Families, 


    WELCOME! I am so glad to have you here.  

    You will be joining the team of Mrs. Fox (2-1) and Mrs. Bricker (2-2). We are one of the 2 teams that will be teaching second grade this year. The other team is Mrs. Widmann (2-3) and Mrs. Coyle (2-4).  In second grade, we will be switching classes for our subjects and  I will be teaching Reading, Writing and Social and Emotional Learning skills. Mrs. Bricker will be teaching Math, Science, and Social Studies. My greatest joy in second grade is that children become proficient and efficient learners. You will be amazed at the growth in your child. The expectations set forth by our state are high, encourage independence, and increase stamina in the children. It is exciting for them to see their growth in their academics, social skills, and talents that they will develop this year.  


    One of our new district focus points this year is on phonics instruction which will help your child become a stronger reader. I would encourage reading with your child and as you are reading with him/her discuss whatever they are reading.  It may be a story, article, recipe, newspaper and of course the old stand by...cereal box. Reading can be anywhere, anything, or anytime.  

    As we continue through the second grade year, we will continue to utilize different technology programs and styles of learning to encourage deeper learning opportunities for your child.  This is a different time in our lives and we are all learning many different programs together. I may not always have an answer, but together we will create success for your child.  At anytime, please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns. I am here to help you and your child navigate this time in their life.
