      Language Instruction Educational Program

I am looking forward to a great year at Scotland and Grandview Elementary Schools!

Let me tell you about our classroom:

I value each student as a unique learner.  We are a family and I want everyone to treat each other with respect for our thoughts, opinions, and values.

I will hold you to high expectations.
We will set learning goals for each new unit we do.  You will graph your data and track your growth as a student.

I want you to have self-efficacy.  That’s a fancy word that means: belief in your self.  If you know you can do it and don’t give up you have good self-efficacy.  I want you to believe in yourself.  I believe in you!

You will have choices when working on projects.  I will let you make many project choices.  I want you doing activities and studying topics that interests you, things that will motivate you to learn and want to learn more.  I will do my part to make learning fun, but I will need your help too.

I will call home to talk to parents.  I will also send home notes with topics we will be studying.  Parents can also contact me by phone or by email.  I will reply as soon as I can.  If there is a question that I do not know the answer to, like something happening in a homeroom or elsewhere, I will find an answer and get back as soon as possible.

I like to say that I'm the momma bird.  I will help my students when we need it but I’ll be like a real momma bird too.  I'll kick my students out of the nest to watch them fly.  My students have heard me say before that they are my kids and I want the best for them.  I will do what I can to help them succeed.  I want them to take ownership and responsibility for their actions and education.

    Welcome to our class!
