I have recently introduced the 5th grade students to a website called Khan Academy (http://www.khanacademy.org/). This website is a wonderful resource for students who are struggling with a particular concept or who would like some additional help. The site provides opportunities for students to practice a concept or watch Khan teach a lesson. There are over 3,400 videos on topics in math, science, and the humanities. These videos are very detailed but also easy to follow. This website is completely free of charge and also a not-for-profit organization. The goal of the site is to change education for the better by providing a free world-education for anyone anywhere. Many, if not all, of the concepts taught in math class this year have videos on this site. If you feel that your child needs additional help, this is an excellent source to know about! Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have about this site or math class in general.
