I am so excited to start another school year at New Franklin Elementary. My name is Jill Hazelton and I will be your child's second grade teacher. To have a place where children feel respected, feel free to take risks, and whom are members of a working community of learners is what I want for our classroom. I hope that together we will be able to work towards this vision for a successful year!
Let me share a little about myself. I am originally from Franklin, Pa. I attended Indiana University of Pa. where I graduated with a degree in elementary education and early childhood education. Chambersburg has been my home since 2002. I have been married for 22 years to my husband, Mike. We have three wonderful children. Our oldest son, Donovan, is a sophomore in college, daughter, Karlyn, is a 12th grader at CMS. Bryton is our youngest child and he is a 9th grader at CASHS this year! We have two dogs, Nova and Raya. When I'm not at school, I enjoy running & exercising (currently training for my 18th marathon), taking care of my family, and sipping on my daily cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee!
Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Over the years, I've had many teaching experiences with children of all ages. I was fortunate to have been a preschool teacher for almost seven years. I enjoyed that experience immensely! My dream of having my own classroom came true in 2013 when I was asked to be a teacher at New Franklin Elementary. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with your child! I have your child's best interest at heart and will be here for you and your child. I believe that every child can succeed, and that any success, no matter how small, should be celebrated!
Together, we can make second grade an exciting and special year for your child. If you ever have questions or concerns please feel free to reach me by calling the school at (717) 261-3454 or by email at jill.hazelton@casdonline.org.
I look forward to a wonderful school year!
