Good Day Families of Thaddeus Stevens,
Based on the 2022 - 2023 School Year, PSSA scores for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, we are at the bottom 15% for performance in Math and Reading when looking at test scores from across the state. What does this mean for you? If your student currently goes to Stevens Elementary or is an incoming student, they would qualify for the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program. More information on this program can be found below:
The overview of the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program includes a description of the program Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit Program (pa.gov): all resources listed below can be found using this link:
- Instructions to apply for an Opportunity Scholarship
- Parental responsibilities regarding enrolling their child in a participating public or nonpublic school.
This year, our SPP (State Performance Plan) score was approximately 75. This score is based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, growth on the PSSAs, attendance, performance, Career Readiness Goals reached, etc. This score puts us 4th in the District, so I am very proud of that and the hard work and dedication that our staff puts into our students and families yet we realize that there is still much work to be done. I have been working on a plan to address our performance on these tests and appreciate your support.
Thank you,
Dr. Pistner
