Nationally-ranked Chambersburg NJROTC earns honors in the National Drill Championship
Throughout the two days of competition resulted in an overall 14th place national ranking for the Chambersburg-based program. Of 637 NJROTC programs nation-wide, only 23 earned an invitation to the "Navy Nationals." Chambersburg was the only school representing Pennsylvania. Read more.
CASD staff host YMCA ARK for Trick-or-Treat Event
YMCA ARK children visited the CASD Joan Bowen Operations Building for our 2nd Annual Trick-or-Treat event. CASD staff dressed up, decorated, & handed out lots of treats!
2025 Trojan Walk Raises $9,180 for Special Education
CASD hosted its annual Trojan Walk on September 25, 2025, raising $9,180 for the Special Education Department through donations, ticket sales, and community support. Read more and watch the inflatable race here.

Chambersburg Area School District Designated “Great PA School” by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association
CASD has been recognized as a "Great PA School" by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association for its academic rigor, community focus, resilience, and financial strength. CASD Celebrates Recognition of Four Schools by U.S. News & World Report
CASD is proud to announce that four of its schools have been recognized in the U.S. News & World Report's 2025 Best schools rankings: Guilford Hills Elementary, Hamilton Heights Elementary, Chambersburg Area Middle School North, and Chambersburg Area Middle School South.
CMS Robotics Club Wins Second Place in BotsIQ Preliminary Competition
On March 12th, 2025, the CMS Robotics Club competed and came in second place in the BotsIQ Preliminary Competition. The team will be attending the final competition at PennWest California on April 11th and 12th. A special thanks to the club sponsors!

CASD Introduces Dean of Student Affairs Positions to Enhance Student Success and Safety
The Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) is proud to announce the hiring of 13 Deans of Student Affairs, one for each elementary school, as part of a strategic initiative to enhance student support, promote positive behavior, and improve overall school management. These positions are a critical component of the district’s Schools of Distinction by 2030 plan.
NJROTC Awarded Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors
To achieve this status, CASHS Cadets conducted field training events, earned an outstanding on their unit inspection score, visited a number of college campuses and excelled in competitive team activities. Read more.
CASD Holds Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Downtown Center
The Chambersburg Area School District (CASD) celebrated the opening of the Chambersburg Engagement Center (CEC) on Thursday, Feb. 27, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event included a tour of the downtown facility at 20 South Main Street, refreshments, and a Q&A session with district leadership. The ceremony was attended by over 50 community members, including local officials, CASD board members, members of the media, and district staff.

Facing a field of top-ranked teams from across the Nation, the Chambersburg Cadets placed 3rd in the nation in armed regulation drill and 4th in the nation in unarmed regulation drill.
